Privacy Policy

Effective May 26, 2026

We collect only what we need to run WorldTree.tv, we do not sell your personal information, and you control your data—including the right to delete your account.

This document is provided for transparency. It is not legal advice. Material rights may vary by jurisdiction.

Who we are

WorldTree.tv (“WorldTree,” “we,” “us”) operates synchronized video rooms, chat, playlists, and related community features.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us at WorldTreeTVandFM@gmail.com.

What we collect

We limit collection to what is reasonably necessary to provide and secure the service:

  • Account data: email address, username/display handle, authentication identifiers, and optional profile metadata from sign-in providers (e.g. Google, Discord, Apple) when you choose social login.
  • Service data: rooms you join, chat messages you send, queue and playlist activity, moderation actions that apply to you, and technical logs needed for reliability and abuse prevention.
  • Device/browser data: IP address, browser type, and similar technical signals collected automatically for security, rate limiting, and debugging.
  • Optional notifications: if you enable web push, we store a push subscription endpoint tied to your account until you disable it or delete your account.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use social sign-in to access your friends lists, posts, private messages, calendars, or other content held at Google, Discord, Apple, or any other provider—only the minimum identity and email data needed to authenticate you.

We do not use your data for third-party advertising profiles.

Why we use your data

We process personal information only to:

  • Create and maintain your account and session.
  • Operate rooms, chat, queues, playlists, and moderation tools.
  • Communicate service-related messages (e.g. email verification, security alerts).
  • Protect users and the platform from abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.

Legal bases (EEA/UK) and comparable rights (Canada)

Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on contract (providing the service you requested), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving reliability—balanced against your rights), and consent where required (e.g. optional notifications).

Where Canadian privacy law applies (including PIPEDA and substantially similar provincial laws), we collect, use, and disclose personal information only with meaningful consent or as otherwise permitted by law, and we apply the more protective standard when laws differ.

When we share information

We share data only with processors that help us run the service (for example hosting, authentication, and infrastructure providers), under contracts that require them to protect your information and use it only on our instructions.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the public.

We may share aggregated or de-identified statistics that cannot reasonably identify you.

How long we keep data

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required by law.

Chat in rooms may be retained for a limited period for moderation and community continuity; when you delete your account we anonymize or remove content that identifies you (see “Delete my account”).

Backups may persist for a limited time before being overwritten.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including knowing what we collect, deleting personal information, and correcting inaccurate information. We do not sell personal information, so “opt out of sale” does not apply.

Quebec and other Canadian residents may have rights under applicable provincial law, including access and rectification.

To exercise rights, email WorldTreeTVandFM@gmail.com or use in-product controls (Settings → Account → Delete my account). We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law (often 30–45 days).

Delete my account (“Forget me”)

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. This starts permanent deletion of your profile, authentication record, playlists, push subscriptions, and other data we control that identifies you.

Some room content (e.g. chat lines) may remain in anonymized form so other users’ context is preserved, without attributable personal information.

Deletion cannot be undone.

Children

WorldTree.tv is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data and we will delete it.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the risk. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong, unique password and enable multi-factor authentication when available.

International transfers

We may process data in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version with an updated effective date and, for material changes, ask you to accept the updated policy before continued use.
